What is specific to Etsy
Purchase Protection follows the checkout address
Etsy’s Purchase Protection Program covers the order up to the address you gave at checkout, which is our receiving center. That is why we photograph the item on arrival: if it differs from the listing or arrives damaged, you message the seller and open a case while still inside the window, and the item stays with us until the matter is settled.
Personalised items are rarely returnable
Each seller sets their own return policy, and engraved or made-to-order pieces are seldom accepted back. Check the name, size and colour in your message to the seller before paying; this is the item that deserves a minute of review.
Digital files need no shipping
Templates, stickers and print-ready designs are downloaded from your Etsy account right after payment, so buy them directly from any country and leave them out of the shipping calculation.
Questions about buying from Etsy
Yes. Etsy accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal, though some sellers enable only some of them. The billing address is your card’s address at your bank; only the shipping address is your US address with us.
Protection applies up to the checkout address, which is the receiving center. We photograph the item on arrival, so if it never arrives, arrives damaged or differs from the listing, you message the seller from the order page and then open a case with Etsy; the window runs until 30 days after the estimated delivery date.
Etsy collects sales tax according to the delivery state, and Oregon is not among the states it collects for, so you pay the price on the listing plus the seller’s shipping only.
It is better to ask them to ship straight to your country if they offer it, because parcels entering the US from abroad are subject to US import charges. Your address with us is the answer for sellers inside the US who do not ship abroad.
