What Europe shares and where it differs
EU countries
The EU abolished the €150 duty relief on 1 July 2026: consignments up to €150 now carry a simplified €3 customs duty per item (until July 2028), and anything above €150 pays the normal tariff — roughly 12% on clothing, 8–17% on footwear and usually 0% on electronics. The carrier collects VAT and duty before delivery through a payment link and adds a handling fee: FedEx charges 2.5% of the amount with a €15 minimum, plus a €2.40 processing fee on parcels arriving from outside the EU.
United Kingdom
Outside the EU: no customs duty up to £135 of goods value and 20% VAT on every parcel — details on the UK page.
Switzerland and Norway
Also outside the EU: Switzerland abolished customs duty on industrial goods and keeps only 8.1% VAT, while Norway charges 25% VAT and duty on clothing and food only.
