Customs and tax in Ireland
The EU abolished the €150 duty relief on 1 July 2026: consignments up to €150 now carry a simplified €3 customs duty per item (until July 2028), and anything above €150 pays the normal tariff — roughly 12% on clothing, 8–17% on footwear and usually 0% on electronics. Irish VAT is 23% from the first euro. The carrier collects VAT and duty before delivery through a payment link and adds a handling fee: FedEx charges 2.5% of the amount with a €15 minimum, plus a €2.40 processing fee on parcels arriving from outside the EU. We prepare the clearance paperwork free of charge, and your purchase invoice travels with the shipment from the moment it leaves.
